¨       Graham’s Law states that the rate of effusion of a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its density. This law is named after Scottish chemist Thomas Graham, who formulated it in the 19th century. According to this law, if two gases have the same temperature and pressure, then the rate of effusion of a gas is inversely proportional to the square root of its molecular weight or density. In other words, a gas with a lower molecular weight or density will effuse or diffuse faster than a gas with a higher molecular weight or density.
