In electrolytic solution conductance of electricity is due to _____________________?

A. free electrons
B. ions
C. metals
D. electrodes

¨       In an electrolytic solution, the conductance of electricity is due to the movement of ions. An electrolytic solution is a solution containing ions that can conduct electricity. When a potential difference is applied across the solution, the ions move towards the oppositely charged electrode, carrying an electric current. The movement of ions is due to the presence of a concentration gradient and an electric field. In contrast to metallic conductors where the conduction of electricity is due to the movement of free electrons, in an electrolytic solution, the conduction of electricity is due to the movement of ions.
