The best indicator for titrating HCl with NH4OH is: _________?

A. methyl Orange
B. litmus
C. phenol red
D. phenolphthalein

¨       Titration is a chemical technique used to determine the concentration of a given analyte in a mixture.

¨       Titration of HCl and NaOH is an example of acid-base titration, which proceeds through neutralization.

¨       To determine end point of a titration, indicators are used depending upon what is the strength of acid and base used.

¨       Both HCl and NaOH being strong acid and strong base respectively, an indicator like phenolphthalein can be used which becomes colorless in acidic and neutral conditions and pink coloured under alkaline conditions.
