Borax is a white crystalline solid and it is_________________?

A. More soluble in cold water
B. More soluble in hot water
C. Insoluble in water
D. Soluble only in organic solvents

¨       Borax, which has the chemical formula Na2B4O7·10H2O, is a white crystalline solid that is more soluble in hot water than in cold water. This is due to the fact that borax dissolves through an endothermic process, meaning that it absorbs heat from its surroundings as it dissolves. As a result, the solubility of borax increases with temperature, as more heat is available to drive the dissolution process. At room temperature, the solubility of borax is about 4.7 g/100 mL of water, while at boiling point it is about 46.6 g/100 mL of water. Borax is insoluble in most organic solvents.
