In water, Hydrogen is present ________by mass.

A. 22%
B. 11.11%
C. 31.13%
D. 15.15%

¨       Water has a molecular weight of 18 g/mol, consisting of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. The atomic weight of hydrogen is 1 g/mol. Therefore, the mass percentage of hydrogen in water can be calculated as follows:

¨       Mass of 2 hydrogen atoms in water = 2 x 1 g/mol = 2 g/mol Molecular weight of water = 18 g/mol Mass percentage of hydrogen in water = (2 g/mol ÷ 18 g/mol) x 100% ≈ 11.11%

¨       Therefore, option B, 11.11%, is the correct answer.
