The reaction of Lucas reagent is the fastest with_________?

A. (CH3)2CHOH
B. CH3(CH2)OH
C. CH3CH2OH
D. (CH3)3COH

• Lucas reagent is a mixture of concentrated hydrochloric acid (HCl) and zinc chloride (ZnCl2), which is used as a test for the presence of alcohols. The reaction of Lucas reagent is a nucleophilic substitution reaction and it is used to differentiate primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols. The reaction is fastest with tertiary alcohols and slowest with primary alcohols.
