A. Picric acid
B. o-nitrophenol
C. 1 3 5 -trinitro benzene
D. p-nitrophenol
¨ When phenol is heated with concentrated nitric acid, the product formed is Picric acid. This reaction is also known as the Picric acid test for phenol. The reaction involves the nitration of the phenol molecule by the nitronium ion, which is formed by the reaction of nitric acid with sulfuric acid. The nitration reaction results in the formation of Picric acid, which is a yellow crystalline solid and is commonly used as a reagent in various chemical reactions.
