¨       The most stable allotropic form of phosphorus is Black phosphorus.

¨       Black phosphorus has a layered structure that is similar to graphite, with each layer consisting of interconnected six-membered rings of phosphorus atoms. The layers are held together by weak van der Waals forces, which allows for easy cleavage of the layers. Black phosphorus is a semiconductor and has applications in electronics and optoelectronics.

¨       In contrast, white phosphorus is highly reactive and toxic, while red phosphorus is less reactive but is not as stable as black phosphorus. Violet phosphorus is a metastable form that can be produced at high pressures, and it is even less stable than red phosphorus.
